FYI, let's limit the comps to the first 2 pages, I need this thread to be used for chatter and what games members would like to pick up or split. Service thread getting way to much chatter. Ty.

Thursday system comp GC-

On Thursday night the Bonus Play is on the NY.Yankees -1.5 and -130 on the run line. The Yanks have CC.Sabathia going tonight against an Oakland team that struggles vs leftys this year, hitting just .229.Oakland is just 2-11 as a road dog from +225 to +250.The Yanks are 5-0 as a home favorite from -225 to -250 and 14-5 at home when the total is 9 to 9.5.Oakland also srtuggles against winning teams going 16-35.Tonight they send young V.Mazzaro to the mound in a real tough spot.Mazzaro was sensational earlier in the year but has since fallen on tough times.Oakland has lost 4 of his 5 road starts this year and his era over his last 3 starts is an elevated 7.07.Now that weve established a probable Yankee win lets take a a look at another cutting edge system that is 8-0 with every win by at least 2 runs and some alot more. What we want to do is play on home favorites of -140 or higher off a home game where they scored 5 or more runs and their opponent is also off a home game where they won by 5 or more runs and scored 10 or more runs. These home favs such as the Yanks are 8-0 and win by an average 8-1 score. Those looking to drop some bombs on Thursday, consider a 5 unit 16-1 blowout system which goes in the evening and a 90% day time angle. For the Bonus Play.Take the NY.Yankees on the run line.bol-GC-

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

St. Louis Cardinals at Washington Nationals (+137, 8)

You can forgive the Cardinals if they happen to overlook their one-game stopover Thursday against the Washington Nationals. It’s fair to say they have had other topics on their minds.

The leaders of a tightly bunched National League Central are on their way to another Friday against the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies of the NL East.

Their make-up date from a May 3 postponed game against the Nationals might come at just the wrong time, though not much about Washington’s record suggests it poses much of a threat against teams with winning records.

Even so, the Nationals have a little bit of momentum on their side. They notched their first win in six tries for interim manager Jim Riggleman by blanking the New York Mets 4-0 Tuesday.

“I can’t lie to you … it feels good to win a ballgame,” Riggleman told the media afterward.

Another bright spot has been the play of the two Z boys, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.

The pitcher (3-5, 4.63 ERA), who will take the mound against the Cardinals, has surrendered three earned runs or fewer in eight of his past 10 starts. Washington’s dreadful bullpen has prevented Zimmermann from having more to show for his efforts.

The third baseman was the team’s All-Star representative. He is hitting .280 BA with 15 home runs and 56 RBI, and has proven to be Washington’s most consistent all-around player.

Pick: Nationals +137

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Dan Haren (Arizona Diamondbacks)

The best pitcher in the National League is in the NL West. But it’s not Tim Lincecum of the Giants.

Haren (10-5, 1.96 ERA) has been hurt by poor run support this season, but he hasn’t let it affect his performance when he steps on the mound. He leads the league in innings pitched (138), ERA, complete games (3) and WHIP (0.80). He is also third in strikeouts (137) and has walked just 18 batters this season.

The 28 year old has allowed one or fewer runs in each of his past four starts and has gone at least seven innings in all but one of those outings. Haren hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start since May 23.

"What I noticed is that he didn't throw a lot of balls over the heart of the plate," the Cardinals' Brendan Ryan told the Associated Press. "He never even used the splitter against me, and that's probably his best pitch."

Adam Wainwright (St. Louis Cardinals)

The 27 year old could be the key to the Cardinals hopes of an NL Central title. Wainwright has emerged as the team's most consistent starter since late June.

Wainwright (10-6, 3.01 ERA) has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his past five starts, lasting at least seven innings in those outings. The key for the right-hander has been his ability to not give up the long ball. He has yielded just one round tripper during his hot streak.

In his most recent start, Wainwright yielded only two runs on five hits over seven innings against the Diamondbacks.

Slumping

Vin Mazzaro (Oakland Athletics)

After an electric debut in the majors at the beginning of June, the rest of the league appears to have caught up to Mazzaro.

Mazzarro (2-6, 4.09 ERA) hasn’t lasted more than six innings in each of his past seven starts. In his most recent outing, an 11-6 loss to the Angles, he was shelled for eight runs on 10 hits in just three innings. Two starts before that, he was hit nearly as hard, giving up five runs on 10 hits over six innings.

The fly-ball pitcher must do a better job of keeping the ball down in the zone, as opponents have turned his starts into batting practice.

“That's going to happen,” Mazzaro told the Associated Press. “I left the ball up too many times. It was probably my approach."

David Huff (Cleveland Indians)

Don’t be deceived by Huff’s most recent start. The southpaw allowed just three runs in five innings but gave up seven hits and a walk and needed 108 pitches to get that far.

But even that performance was an improvement for Huff (4-4, 6.60). In his previous start against the White Sox he was tagged for eight runs on 11 hits in just 4 1-3 innings. In fact, Huff has allowed at least seven hits in each of his past four starts.

"The big thing was getting ahead of hitters," Huff told the Associated Press after a recent loss. "But I started nibbling a little. I had to go to the fastball for a strike and those guys were sitting dead-red on it."

Lady Luck: Today's WNBA best bets

Indiana Fever at San Antonio Silver Stars (+2.5, 141.5)

The Fever wants opponents to expect a certain style of play when they prepare to face the team with the league’s best record.

"Defense is what we want to be known for," Fever star Tamika Catchings told the Associated Press. "The first two games of the season we are 0-2 off the bat. One of the things we talked about in the locker room was what do we want to be known for. Play defense. Sounds so simple, but it's just so hard. Once we made the commitment to one another to be there and have each other's back, that's how we play."

And defense has been the team’s trademark the past 13 games, as it is 12-1 over that span. The Fever are allowing just 69.3 points per game, the best mark in the WNBA, to go with its fourth-ranked field goal percentage defense (41.3 pct).

Meantime, San Antonio has lost its past two games by an average of nine points and is just 3-4 ATS at home this season.

Pick: Fever

Chicago Sky at Washington Mystics (-5.5, 155)

If there’s one thing these two teams should be able to do, it’s put points on the board.

Washington is among the league’s best offensive teams, averaging more than 77 points per game and shooting better than 37 percent from beyond-the-arc. The team’s defense, however, is mediocre at best, allowing 76.9 points per game.

The Sky are very similar. Chicago’s defense is terrible, yielding more than 80 points per night. And while the team’s offense isn’t incredible, it does what it can to offset a lackadaisical approach on defense, averaging 74.5 points per game.

The Sky’s over/under record of 8-1 on the road also is an impressive number and blends well with Washington’s over/under home record of 4-3. The number is high, but expect scoring to soar.

Pick: Over

(959) TAMPA BAY RAYS
(960) CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Take "(960) CHICAGO WHITE SOX"

Scott Kazmir finally had a good game last start, but there were still indicators that he's not yet right. Kazmir will have to show me more before I can feel comfortable with him. Mark Buehrle continues to be a win machine at home for the White Sox and with the price where it is, the home team looks like the play here.

(953) PITTSBURGH PIRATES
(954) ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
Take "Under"

A pair of very weak offensive teams meet here, ones ranked 19th and 24th in the league in runs scored. The two starting pitchers are having good seasons, too. Charlie Morton of the Pirates doesn't walk anyone and is 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA his last three starts. Dan Haren of the Diamondbacks is having a terrific season at 10-5 with a 1.96 ERA. Don't look for much offense, play the Pirates/Diamondbacks Under the total.

Chicago White Sox (-105)
Thu Jul 23 '09 2:05p

It will be a battle of lefthanders as All-Star Mark Buerhle and the White Sox take on Scott Kazmir and the Devil Rays.

Buerhle has been Chicago’s most consistent starter just about every year in his stellar career in the windy city and 2009 has been no exception. Buerhle has put up solid numbers this season posting a 10-3 record with an ERA of 3.52. He’s is 1-0 this season against the Rays and at home he’s been about as good posting a 6-1 record with a 2.81 ERA in 11 starts. Buerhle is also 15-6 in his last 21 starts at U.S. Cellular Field. He’s coming off 4-3 win over the Orioles on Saturday night a home outing in which he allowed just one run and no walks in 7 1-3 innings. The big lefthander is 5-2 with a 4.21 ERA in 11 starts against Tampa Bay including a victory in April at the “Trop”.

Kazmir’s season has been slowed by injuries and the numbers reflect it. Kazmir is just 4-5 with an ERA of 6.62 and is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA since his last victory May 9 at Boston. He’s also been bitten by the gopher ball allowing 11 homeruns in just 68 innings. His body of the work against the White Sox this season consists of one game in which he allowed six-runs in four innings. Kazmir who was counted on to be the Devil Rays ace has been anything but this season.

Chicago begins play one game behind Detroit in AL Central after winning eight of its last 11 home games. Tampa Bay, which has fallen 5.5 games off the pace in the AL East, are just 8-17 in their last 25 games vs. the Chi Sox including a 2-5 record this season.

Today figures to be another low-scoring affair on the south side with Buerhle and the White Sox getting the nod.

San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies Philadelphia Phillies
-1½-125 at JAMAICA > 12h.

PHI -1.5 (-120): PHI has won 10 of last 11 and in that stretch they have been scoring over 5 runs per game and only giving up 2 runs per game. On the other hand SD has been pitiful scoring only 2 runs per game over last 13 losing 11 of those games. Today PHI turns to Hammels to get them back to their winning ways. He is coming off a very good start and his home record is much better with a good ERA of 3.92! SD turns to Correia who has not been terrible but he usually only goes 5 innings giving up 2-3 runs. Bad news for SD as there bullpen has been overworked lately and has not performed very well. Today see SD being shut out while watching PHILLY score a bunch (over 7 runs). SCORE PHI 8 - SD 0

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago White Sox Chicago White Sox
-104 at JAMAICA > 7h.
The White Sox took a 2-1 series lead in their four-game set versus the Rays with a win on Wednesday night at US Cellular Field in Chicago. They will send left-hander Mark Buehrle to the bump on Thursday afternoon in an effort to get the series win. Buehrle is 10-3 on the year with an ERA of 3.52 including 6-1 at home with an ERA of 2.81. The White Sox are 36-16 when Buehrle takes the hill as a favorite and they are 21-7 when he is installed as a favorite of -110 to -150. The numbers don’t end there as Buehrle is 6-1 his last 7 overall, 8-1 his last 9 at home when facing a team with a winning record and 10-0 (+10.0) when the money line is -100 to -150 this season. The Rays will send Scott Kazmir to the hill with his record of 4-5 on the season and an ERA of 6.62. That record includes a 3-2 mark on the highway with an ERA of 3.37 this season. Kazmir is coming in off a quality start at KC on Saturday throwing for 6 innings allowing one earned run on 4 hits and 3 strikeouts. This is not necessarily good news for Rays backers as Kazmir is only 1-6 his last 7 starts following a quality start in his last outing. Tampa Bay is 10-22 (-14.4) on the road when the money line is +125 to -125 this season. The White Sox will use the momentum gained from Wednesday’s win and take game four and the series from the defending AL Champs on Thursday afternoon at US Cellular Field.

Delivered my FREE winner Wednesday night with the Rangers finishing off a sweep of the Red Sox in Arlington. Today, I've got another one as I play the White Sox at home to take care of the Rays.

This has been an entertaining series through the first three games, with each decided by one run. Chicago has taken two of the first three and they will get this one today behind the pitching of lefty Mark Buehrle (10-3, 3.52 ERA).

The White Sox are on positive streaks of 8-3 at home, 5-1 against winning teams and 9-1 when they face southpaws. They have also won five of the seven meetings this season against Tampa and they are 4-0 in Buehrle's last four home outings against the Rays.

Chicago is on runs of 48-20 with Buehrle on the hill at home and 8-1 at home against teams with winning records. They've won six of his last seven starts, including a 4-3 win over the Orioles on Saturday when he held them to one run in 7.1 innings. He's 6-1 with a 2.81 ERA at home this season and he's 7-2 with a 4.23 ERA in 11 career starts against the Rays.

Lefty Scott Kazmir (4-5, 6.62 ERA) goes for Tampa. He is 3-2 on the road this season and 3-2 in six career starts against the White Sox. Back on April 18 he gave up six runs on five hits in four innings of an 8-3 loss to Chicago.

Kazmir just hasn't been himself this season while Buehrle continues to dominate when he takes the mound at U.S. Cellular Field in front of the home fans. Play the White Sox to win this one with ease.

French has an ERA of 1.89 with 1 over and 2 unders. These teams have combined for 71 overs and 109 unders with 4 pushes.

Look for another under on Thursday afternoon!
